Hi there,

I'm a newbie here but I've had a thin spot on my crown since I was in my teens (over 30 years ago).

I try just about every product out there. Recently, I've had major hair loss due to stress so I'd like to get opinions. Clumps of hair have come out from my crown to the base of my neck.

1. A few months ago I purchased Aminexil from Kerastase (L'Oreal Paris). It's a 2x/day serum to prevent hair loss ... extends the life of the hair ???

2. Andrew Lessman's Healthy Hair and Nails vitamins (high in Biotin and B vitamins).

3. Rogaine (2 weeks and counting).

4. And I just purchased Phytocyane (Phyto line).

Hi Manoa,
Welcome to the board!

I've never heard of #1 or #2 but #3 I've been using for a couple of years now. I think it's helped me a little but not to the extent I would like. My hair is still see through right in the front but I always do see little hairs popping up here and there. I just think it falls out a lot faster than it grows back in.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

I feel you momof2!!!! I see little hairs poppin up, yet the head as a whole is thinner and thinner as the months go by. It would be nice for the loss to slowdown for a year or so and let my regrowth catch up! But, of course, in a perfect world we wouldn't be dealing with this crap!

Manoa- welcome to the forum! I've been using Kerastase products for a while now and while I'm a bit of a beauty product junkie and always love to try new things, I always go back to Kerastase.. I just get consistently great results from their products. I alternate between the Volumactive and Bain de Force lines to help give my thinning hair a little extra strength and volume. Have never tried the Aminexil... I'd be a bit skeptical about its ability to prevent hair loss, but it's probably still a pretty good product that might help your hair look and feel healthier.
Never tried Phyto products myself but I've heard good things... again, it's probably something that's just going to help improve appearance... give your hair strands a little "oomph".
I just started using Rogaine 5% yesterday (eek!), so we'll see how that goes.

Good luck and peace :)

S
