Hello,

sorry to hear about your diagnosis. You might want to start your own thread because it sounds like you have a lot to work out. I have heard that high prolactin is typical of PCOS and if this is the case then anti-androgen thearapy has a much higher chance of being effective for you. Some of the PCOS ladies on here have good recovery with Diane 35/dianette. Good luck.

Lh

I will thank you! I actually have a flattened pituatary which they think it causing the high prolactin level but I am going to get checked for PCOS too.

I'm sorry lisa :( I hope you can find something that works for you. Also, I dont know how much hair u have now, but if the doc says the rogaine will keep it on ur head, go for it!

However, this does upset me a little bc i have tons a "regrowth", but pretty much have given hope that it is healthy hair.

Please keep us updated.

I was going to check about your pituitary - they are sure there is no tumour there - as in a Prolactinoma? Sorry to hear about the hair loss diagnosis.

Thanks Ladies! You know what. I wasn't very happy with Dr. Cotsarelis my derm. He really didn't do a thorough examination. No biopsy. I don't think they even checked to see exactly what kind of hair loss it is. I noticed there are tiny white bulbs at the end of my hair strands that fall out. Which I think may be TE. Which this doctor never even mentioned. So I am a little upset right now. When I even pull on hair gently the hair comes out which is TE from what I read. And the little fine short hairs on the head is regrowth possibly from a bad TE shed. I am hoping it is this. But can female pattern baldness also have these little white bulbs at the end of the strands? If they do then it could be AGA too since my DHEA is high. I am low in ZINC and IRON and have missed many periods due to high prolactin. I don't have a tumor but a flattened pituatary of all things. Which is causing this high prolactin for the past 10 yrs and my hair has been gradually getting thinner over the years. But more so recently. I do hope I find the answers one day and the right treatment for my hair loss. I am going to start something called VITEX or FEMAPRIN to bring on my period. Maybe the balancing of the hormones might stimulate my hair to grow. :dunno:

Hi all. I have a quick question about AGA. So i thought my hair was regrowing a little but its hard to tell when it is curly, so right now my hair is straight and i see tons of hair that is shorter everywhere. They are all different lengths and stuff, i think thats a bad sign. I think that my hair might be growing but it keeps getting shorter? I really dont know, but it looks kind of bad. I got my hair done and my boyfriend was all like " what is it sticking up like that?"

Maybe some of it is real regrowth.

I just dont understand how regrowth or minturization works...I am a little sad over this...thinking all of these short/ a little bit shorter hairs wont be there at all soon. Hopefully i am just jumping to a wrong conclusion. Any words or advice on the topic? Thanks

Beachlover,
I too am always wondering what those shorter hairs are> Is it regrowth or is is broken hair, or is it old hair that never grew past the couple inch point???? if it is regrowth lord help me because it means my hair is fallng out so fast that the new hair isn't even having time to grow long :shakehead:

I have it EVERYWHERE

well if it's any consolation I looked like a dang chia pet a few months before I noticed an improvement in density... now if I could just avoid traumatic stress for a couple of years since that seems to kick off mini TE's for me... I may actually be in the clear... lol...

Robin- I totally look like a chia pet right now, but I think my hair has actually improved. I posted photos a few weeks ago, and my center part is much better than last year, but the sides not so much improvement. Also, people have been telling me they like my hair a lot more lately, maybe its the color, but I think I have improved atleast alittle.. yay. Maybe u were right when u told me u thought I had TE.

BL this is EXCELLENT news...

After my shed sort of normalized for a few months... came the chia pet look... and with the chia pet look came a slight improvement in density that only continued to improve...

I then started noticing that my hair seemed to be improving... insofar as it became easier to style... and then... just like you I started getting compliments on my hair...

funny thing is that I would've thought with an aggressive and prolonged TE such as mine... that regrowth would be so obvious and in my face... but in reality... it was very slow going and subtle... little changes over time...

All my hair that comes out has the white bulb- it is normal for it to be there whether or not you have hair loss issues.
