2006 NAAF conference- Support Session topics

    Hi girls, :)

    I just wanted to put up the support session topics for the NAAF conference. I'm not sure if any of you here are attending this year but I would recommend trying to go to at least one conference in the future if you have Alopecia Areata. Here are the topics:

    Friday June 30 at 2:30

    1. Alopecia Areata 101 - How to interpret your recent diagnosis

    2. Young adults -Alopecia areata topics unique to those under 30

    3. Relationships and Intimacy -Investigating how alopecia areata affects you and your companion

    4. Tempted to Go Topless- Discussions of topics unique to men & women who choose to go without a prosthesis or cover-up

    5. A Fresh Palate- Tips for applying and maintaining eye makeup

    6. Wig envy- How to purchase, care for, and style your new hair

    7. Parenting Brainstorm- Children (Parents only) -Talking with parents of elementary age children

    8. Parenting Brainstorm- Pre- Teens (Parents only)- Talking with parents of junior high-age children

    9.Parenting Brainstorm- Teens (Parents only) - Talking with parents of high school- age children

    10. Support for the Supporters (For those without alopecia areata)- Ideas on how to help your friends & family with their alopecia areata


    Sunday July 2 at 9:00 AM

    1. Women & Alopecia Areata -A discusssion on the issues affecting women

    2. Men & Alopecia Areata- A discussion on the isssues affecting men

    3. Charting Your Course- Becoming an empowered patient

    4. Community Education- Round-table discussions on effective public awareness ideas

    5. A Fresh Palate - Tips for applying and maintaining eye makeup

    6. Wig envy- How to purchase, care for, and style your new hair

    7. Parenting Brainstorm- Adolescents & Teens (For parents only) Talking with parents of adolescents & teens

    8. Parenting Brainstorm- Adults-( For parents only0- Talking with parents of adults

    9. Enriching the School Experience (For parents only)-Helping children get the most from their classroom

    10. Support for the Supporters - Ideas on how to help your friends and family with their alopecia areata
