Any chance of regaining my thick hair?

I am 23 and have been having hair loss beginning when I was 19. Up until the hair loss began, my hair was always very thick/poofy. My grandmother had thick hair, even into her 70's. I never would have guessed that thin hair would be a problem for me. My hair now looks thin/stringy and I fear it getting worse. I have not found a cause for this yet. Every doctor I go to tells me I am normal in vitamin levels and don't test for any diseases.

Have you seen a good dermatologist or endocrinologist?

I agree with Lily- go see and endocrinologist. Is your hair and scalp otherwise healthy or "normal" (irritation of the scalp, etc)? If not then see a dermatologist. Otherwise I'd find an endocrinologist to do a full blood work panel. Your hormones could be out of whack. If you're on the pill or any meds, stop taking them 4 weeks before blood work. Finding a cause for hair loss is very tricky but there are a lot of things to be addressed and ruled out. An endocrinologist is your best bet.
