I went to a new endocrinologist today. At first they had me see a resident, then the attending physician. Both of them independently came to the same conclusion: that I have alopecia areata. I tend to agree with this, but I'm going back to a hair loss specialist to confirm. I've actually already seen this dermatologist...I went to see her about my hair loss problems ten years ago and she kind of blew me off. My hair has gotten much worse, though, and I have strange bald spots and the doctors both said it looked like an autoimmune disorder. They said that women with thyroid-related hairloss typically don't have loss as extensive as I do Since I've already been diagnosed with Hashimoto's, which is also an autoimmune disorder, they want to screen me for all kinds of disorders, so I'm kind of freaking out.
