Ladies, Does anyone here notices seasonal shedding? What I mean is that during certain months of year, you notice shedding noticeably more? Not a huge amount more but enough that you notice? I haven't been able to find any dermatologist that believed in it, but after 4 years of observing my hair shedding, I am beginning to believe there is such a thing for humans. I just wanted to see if anyone else experiences it. Please let me know.
Yep! Every January, which is Summer here. I'll notice more strands coming out if I run my hands through my hair and more on the floor of the shower.
Humans tend to shed between 50 and 100 hairs every day. A typical strand of hair has a life cycle of between two and six years, during which time it grows normally. However, around 10 percent of a person’s hair may be in the resting phase (known as telogen or telophase). In this stage, the hair can fall out. Hair loss in October and November may be a purely seasonal phenomenon for many women. For women affected by thinning hair all year-round or in defined patches, it may be beneficial to get professional advice from a hair and skin specialist.
My hair shedding goes through the same cycles. It started 4 years ago. I have severe shedding June-October. Over the last 4 years, I've lost 50% of my density. I had scalp biopsy and confirmed androgenetic alopecia. I'm about to start Spironolactone and Rogaine after my cycle ends. I tried Rogain before and the dread shed was more than I could handle. Right now, I do laser treatments and take Hair Revive which has helped but I need something to increase the growth and stop it from falling out after 3 inches of growth.
