I have been suffering from genetic hairloss (Androgenetic Alopecia) since my early 20s. Now entering 30. It is getting worse every year and I can't even put my hair freely and has to hide and tie it up.

It is hard to manage the stress coming out of it, as you expect. But in the last year I am reaaalllyyy suffering, literally. I cannot live. I cannot go on my life, my work, even broke up with my bf intentionally because I felt so embarrassed with my baldness. (I will upload picture later).

I tried different natural topical solutions - not Rogaine though, for some obvious reasons, also did not try prp or mesotherapy because my several doctors were acting honestly and saying 'you know it is temporarily, it will become the same after a while'.

I don't want wigs or toppiks. But maybe I will have to opt for it. Because I see there won't be any other choice...

I cannot live, I can't go on my life. It is devastating. I am so scared. What will I do? I keep thinking ending everything and killing myself. I can't function like this.

Yet again I am in search for options. Going to try this: https://www.amazon.com/Thinning-Hair-Tonic-Thicker-Stimulator/dp/B01HYXJC40/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1543058631&sr=8-3&keywords=saw palmetto serum&fbclid=IwAR12RT987mN8z4wIQp2CFu5lz7q2aMZvLb2pMUQKB5NDZaHYHKPE8VuqcPM

if any of you has used it, please tell me what was the result.

    Thank you

Your last options are rogaine or a topper if you don't want wigs. If you don't try, you can't know.

More than 2 months ago, I was diagnosed with alopecia areata. I used to have a straight and fine hair that I always got a good compliment from other people. Then alopecia suddenly came to my life. I was so despressed and I really cried because it was so unacceptable for me. I went to doctors. I used clobetasol solution and I tried once the injectable steroid. Barely 3 weeks after diagnosis, I started using wigs because for me, it’s better to use it instead of trying to figure out on what to do to be able to hide the baldness when I go to work. In my case, wig worked for me. Now, I think I already lost maybe 80-85% of my hair. Almost totally bald I must say. I have this high hopes that my hair is growing because the doctor said, there’ll be regrowth once that exclamation mark hairs fall and light or white color hair comes out. I see some of it now. Though it will take time for our hair to grow, I am so positive my hair will come back soon. Btw, my doctor told me to try Rogaine too but I haven’t yet. Try use topper if you don’t want to use wig. I bought sets of hair clips too but wasn’t able to use it because my hair fell too fast that no more hair to clip on.

I was diagnosed with ffa last July. I used to have a decent amount of hair - the front and sides are now very thin. I have had injections (no results), I use clobetasol for redness and irritation and started taking spironalacton - 2 months now ..... so far no new growth but hair fall is less. This hair loss is very emotional and damaging to self esteem. I have my “new hair” in a box in a drawer waiting for the time I need to wear it. I hope that never happens but with ffa it more than likely will. I see a new doctor on the 31st. Hoping she has some answers or a new approach. I appreciate this forum as it is somewhat healing to know you are not alone in the disease and I didn’t know so many people were affected before the diagnosis. Sure hope a cure is found soon....as in tomorrow!

I agree with this. It helps a lot to share your situation that everybody here is somewhat sharing. In my office or general surroundings, everybody has thick glowing hair and I can't stop being sad for myself. Life's unfairness feels like a slap every single day.

I hope cure will be found VERY soon. We are running out of hair. Or maybe new hair roots will be grown, who knows. Best of luck to everybody here.

    Hi Blue
It will be okay. There are people with far worse conditions.
I found a small bald spot in my very thick luscious hair in April 2015.
I live in London so it was easy to find a top specialist and try various treatments.
The treatments slowed things down but ultimately failed.
By Nov 2015 I had lost all of my head hair.
By March 2016 I had lost my body hair, eyelashes and eyebrows.
At first I was so devastated I couldn't even say the word wig - wigs were for other people, for freaks with no hair, not for me!
But as my hair was falling out I got an amazing wig before it all went, It looks so natural. I can honestly say that I have never had so much as an odd glance with my hair on. My wig is of human hair so I shower in it and wash and dry it as normal hair, I also sleep in mine as I wouldn't like my husband to see me without hair. My children don't even know that I lost my hair and wear a wig - they have no idea.
I have tattooed eyebrows and wear false eyelashes. I also have the most amazing false eyebrows which I sometimes bother with but usually I don't because the tattooed look is so fashionable.
And actually I've gone from feeling as you do to being really ok with it. Of course when there is a cure i'll be first in line - but it will be okay, honestly it will. I cried for the whole summer of 2015 and went into a huge depression but actually the loosing of the hair and the dread and constant checking was the worst part. Once it was gone I knew it could only stay the same or get better.
There are two ways of looking at it if you do choose to get a wig - either go for something natural similar to your own hair - this is easier if you can afford a human hair wig. Or, be a funky hair gal and have a variety of styles and colours and have a bit of fun with wigs, change from blode one day to brunette the next. I think at first we all try to replace what we had and for some ridiculous reason many of us feel a sense of shame at hairloss. But over time you will be more relaxed. I'm still more comfortable around people who know, and over time I've become more comfortable to tell people - I used to feel ashamed, but it's nothing to be ashamed of, it's a disease, a shitty annoying depressing disease, but compared to many diseases we've got off lightly.
You WILL be ok and you will feel better, get a wig or hairpiece if you've enough hair left for one and it will soon become 'your hair' and you'll relax. It's really not the end of the world - I promise.
    Tx

Can I ask - those of you who wear traditional wigs - how do they stay on and do they feel secure?
If a child gave your hair a good tug - would it come off?
Also - do you tell people?

That was a huge inspiration. I also think hairloss should not beat us, we can overcome even the worst ones.

Some of my workmates know that I am wearing wig because I told them to prevent too much questions because I am wearing totally different from my original hair. The cap should fit your head to prevent from falling. I am using the full lace cap instead of the front lace cap because I have a hard time putting it. When I wear cap, I use the full lace because I don’t need to glue to it.

I think it's better to go to a wig shop then through the mail,i actually like the synthetic one better than the real hair one ,my mistake was letting the lady at the wig shop rush me and ,she was quite rude and it ended up too small ,no returns,it gave me a massive headache,it has stretched now and I can tolerate it for a couple hours.they are costly so I'm saving for another one this time I'm going somewhere different and I will take my time or leave, are you gonna treat some one with out hair crappy at a wig shop ??? Growl...next time I'll be in the driver's seat .I've drooled at the ones online but after 2 completely different wigs came I'm done with wigsbuy... We are tougher than we think and we deserve respect.hope you all are having a great day
