    Hello Everyone,

I don't know how to start, this is very new to me ..
I'm seeking for help and answers and maybe some support :(

It all started around november 2015... I started to notice that i had some sport when i can see my scalp... But I thought it was because i wwas straightening my hair, curling them, coloring them etc ...
So I started to take care of them : oiling them before shower... But I was still Loosing them not like heavy amount but everyday i would loose 50/70 hairs. When I went to see my doctors they didnt care about it, they said uits probably iron so they prescribed me iron supplements.
August 2016 , I went to Bangkok for 6 months to do my masters. From September , I started to loose around 100/150 hair strands a day ... And I think because I had some emotionnal choc there due to some personnal pbms, and also mabe because of the environnement change ( I Live in Paris).. There i Lost the half of my hair ...
When I came back to Paris, i went straight to my dermo, to talk abt my pbm... She said don't worry its probably stress, it will grow back dont worry....

7-8 months after I still had thin hair ... I have lots of regrowth on my head bu i felt like they don't ever grow long ...
So I went back to my dermo asking what was wrong ? Why it didnt grow back well..
There she asked me to go and do a trichogramme which I did. She saw the results and told me "oh from what i see, i think u have a AAG"...
That news destryed me, being a srilankan i was always surrounded by long thick black hair ...
She told me to use Minoxidil .. I said no , i want to wwait a bit to see if i can do anything natural...

But now 6 months after, I still don't see any improvement ...

So I started to think abt my birth pills. From sept/october 2014 I was taking Zoely everynight ... Yesterday I went to my gynecologist crying and telling her what was happening to me ... I begged her to prescribe me some blood test to see my iron level, magnesium, zinc, B12 et vitamine D... She didnt even bother istening to me .. She said "here u can test iron and thyroid but not the others " and she prescribed me another Birth pills Triafemi which is apparenly good for hair ...

    My pbm is :
    - till now, i have no clear proof that i have AAG because I never hormonal check up..
    - i badly want to stop birth pills but my gyneco just scared me saying that if i stop birth pills my hair would fall more
    - I never did an hormonal check up , and i would like to have one but it means i should stop birth pills for at least 2 months ...

Please, is there someone here who struggled in the sa

Hello, sorry you are having such a tough time. I was recently diagnosed with Androgenetic Alopecia too, after loosing my hair for over 4 years. I was diagnosed through a scalp biopsy and have had many blood tests over the years that all came back totally normal. I don't think you can diagnose Androgenetic Alopecia through a blood test. I have never taken birth control pills and still got Androgenetic Alopecia, but I think if you are not on a "hair friendly" one, it can make it worse. I saw a private hair loss specialist and he told me that starting and stopping the pill can bring on periods of heavy sheds, but with a hair friendly pill it should help the Androgenetic Alopecia. He prescribed me Desogen, I haven't started taking it yet though as I'm waiting until I get home from an upcoming trip.

If you are able to, try to ask if you can be referred to a different dermatologist. I was told for years by Doctors that my hair loss was in my head because I had so much hair, it took me paying privately to get a proper diagnoses because I knew something was wrong (loosing between 200 - 400 hairs everyday) and my hair loss is just starting to become noticeable. There are things you can try that work for some people to slow it down like Rogaine and Spironolactone. Firstly, work on getting a proper diagnoses and go from there. I hope you find some answers soon!

Sorry, I also forgot to add that if you want the hormone tests your Gyn should be able to refer you for them, there are basic tests a Derm will send you for but they don't cover everything you need. You should also have your Thyroid, vitamin D And b12 tested on top of that.
