    Hi ladies.

I have Androgenetic Alopecia, I started thinning at 17 and I'm in my mid 40's now.

I wore a hat day in and day out, no more though!!!

I wanted to post this before and after to offer hope to someone that may be on the fence about trying Mens Rogaine foam 5%.

Before pic taken in May of 2018.
    After pic taken today.

I applied it twice a day for a full 8 months. ALL my hair has grown back.

I wanted to post this before and after to offer hope to someone that may be on the fence about trying Mens Rogaine foam 5%.

    Hi Mina,

I never got a dread shed. And I have no side effects except all my hair back. ; )

No no, 4 months isn't long enough to see a difference, I only just started to notice a difference at 6 months, and by 8 months my hair was totally normal again.

    Are you using 5%?

    Keep going, it gets better.

Thanks for the nice words, if you have anymore questions I'm happy to help you.

    MC.

I started minoxidil may 2018 but had to stop after 4 months bcuz I got an allergic reaction to a hair dye and the itching got to bad. I had an initial shed when I started for 2-3 weeks. And by month 4 I was starting to feel better about my hair, but had to stop then bcuz of the reaction.
I started minoxidil again in oktober 2018, but the dread shed is still going on. Thats the scary part. I have lost so much hair, and I really dont know what to do. Altough I can see some regrowth and my temples has filled in, but still loosing to much hair. Overall my hair is much worse than when I started minoxidil ☹

You have to power through it, I know it sucks but that's a known reaction to Rogaine when you first start, it will get better.

Most people don't realize that NORMAL hair shedding can be between 100-150 hairs a day.

    Are you using 5% Mina?

Yes I am using 5% liqiud twice a day. I just pray that the shedding will stop soon. So much scalp is showing now that I am so depressed over this. Maybe I shold just give it some more time..

Oh yes definitely you need more time. I didn't even start to notice my part filling in until the
6 month mark, now at 8 months all my hair is back.

Did ur normal shed alway stay like this, or did the shed decrease a bit with Minoxidil?

    I don't shed period.

I just have the normal hairs that come out like anyone else.

I think if you can just give it more time and do it every day you will see an improvement. It's not a quick fix, but by the 8 month mark you will notice that you have hair again.

Mina i had a dread shed for 4 months. Now it's ok, but i think my shedding it's high for me. I don't know what it's a "normal shed" anymore.
Also i have periods when i shed more. I have periods when i shed little hairs. But i am on rogaine for years...and o have Androgenetic Alopecia for 12 years.

Yes I will try. Its just so hard when I see my hair tinning day by day. If just the shedding could have stopped I think it would have been easier, cuz I am having regrowth. I also have more eyelashes amd eyebrows and facial hair..that means something is working cuz last time I had theese same side effects.

    Mina , slowed down.
Miss Canada, yes. But i have cycles of sheeding on rogaine. First was after 10 months or 1 year. And with time i think it's no longer so effective.
I have regrowth all the time but i shed new hairs, baby hairs.
I know it's normal for others, but for me and my hair it's not : i shed in a wash day 100-150, and in other days 25-30. And i have periods with TE when i shed more. This is life with Androgenetic Alopecia .

I think your hair shed is ok?
The days I shower I can shed anywhere from 90 -130 hairs total count for the day. Other days it can be 20 - 70 this also depends on whether I comb it. I found roughly every time I comb it's approx 20 + I am taking oral minoxidil/ Spironolactone .50mg and have been on the course for 5months,

I was on Spironolactone for 7-8 months. I didn't see an effect. I stopped them 4 months ago. I don't respond at anti dht treatmens. (My testosteron and dht are in normal range)
For a thin hair and with Androgenetic Alopecia i think my sheedind it's still high. Our regrowth it's not the same like a healthy hair and scalp.

I too have normal testosterone, I think the Spironolactone is just precautionary. Not sure though. I have androgenetic alopecia and thin hair, used to have lots of thin hair! I can understand your concerns as I feel the same way. I barely used to shed, maybe I just didn't notice? I only begun noticing hair loss in March 2018.
